Watch Bridge Book Club discussion of collaborative memoir ‘Wounds’
The bimonthly Bridge Book Club resumed Friday with a discussion of “Wounds: A Collaborative Memoir in Stories.”
Bridge Michigan and more than 75 readers were joined by Michigan-born authors Razel Jones and Daniel Abbott to talk about their memoir. If you were not able to participate live, you can watch a recording of the talk between Jones, Abbott and Amber DeLind, Bridge membership and engagement director, below.
Jones, who is Black, and Abbott, who is white, explore the concepts of race, differences and cross-cultural understanding growing up in White Cloud, in Newaygo County.
During Friday’s Zoom, Jones and Abbott discussed the process of writing a collaborative memoir, the reception to “Wounds” in their hometown, why they implored white readers to stand up to racism in the book and channeling their pain and trauma into a message of hope.
