Bridge Michigan’s monthly Lunch Break series on Thursday focused on climate change in Michigan and environmental justice, touching on recent floods in metro Detroit and the $1 trillion federal infrastructure deal.

Bridge Michigan environmental reporter Kelly House was joined by  Michelle Martinez, acting executive director of the Michigan Environmental Justice Coalition and William Shuster, chair and professor of the Wayne State University Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, for an hour-long discussion about this timely topic.

Bridge’s Lunch Break monthly series focuses on timely topics for the people of our state. Previous discussions have focused on racial equity in Michigan, the impact of COVID-19 on K-12 education, high water levels in the Great Lakes, the November election, readers’ COVID-19-related questions, Bridge’s coverage plans for 2021, coronavirus vaccine distribution, openness in Michigan government, COVID-19’s impact on higher education, the status of Michigan’s redistricting process and Michigan’s recent labor pipeline struggles.
