'Issues & Ale' tackles emergency manager law
Do you like beer? Do you care about state policy? Well, come enjoy both at the next "Issues & Ale" event in Flint next Monday (March 26).
Co-sponsored by the Center for Michigan (Bridge's parent organization) and Michigan Radio, "Issues & Ale" is a continuing series of public forums to illuminate key issues before the state. And the newest installment is on one of the hottest: Michigan's emergency manager law.
"Confirmed panelists for the event include Brandon A. Jessup -- Chairman and CEO of Michigan Forward, and Dr. Eric Scorsone -- Extension Specialist at Michigan State University. Michigan Forward is a Detroit-based progressive think tank and advocacy group that has been the guiding force behind a petition drive aimed at repealing the law. Dr. Eric Scorsone is an economist and faculty member for State & Local Government at Michigan State University, whose work focuses on assisting communities in the areas of state and local public finance and strategic planning. Dr. Scorsone has also worked with the Michigan Department of Treasury to develop and deliver training programs for Michigan’s Emergency Managers."
